Volvo at Volvo Visitor Center Daqing — Volvo Visitor Center Opening (2017)

Volvo opened its first China visitor center beside its Daqing plant, hosting an S90 production milestone ceremony.

The venue

The visitor center sits directly beside Volvo's Daqing plant, an automotive production site in the city. It is a purpose-built exhibition and reception building arranged around a display hall, with visitor circulation from the entrance through brand-history exhibits toward factory tour access. The interior uses suspended ultra-thin lightboxes and grille elements to connect interior and exterior. Floor area and capacity are not verified.

How the space was used

For the opening, the display hall held the unveiling ceremony and carried Volvo's history and technology exhibits. Government representatives, Volvo officials, guests and media gathered there before the group moved to the factory workshop. The event also marked the 20,000th export S90 rolling off the line. The visitor route linked the exhibition space to the production floor.

Why it works here

The visitor center is attached to the plant, so brand presentation and manufacturing evidence sit in one route. A ceremony announcing a visitor facility and a production milestone can move guests from exhibits to the assembly line without leaving the site. This suits automotive launches where the factory itself is part of the message.
