Volvo at Shanghai Xingguo Hotel — Volvo Swedish National Day Celebration (2018)

Shanghai Xingguo Hotel's outdoor lawn hosted the Shanghai portion of Volvo's Swedish National Day celebration, with family activities and a themed display.

The venue

Shanghai Xingguo Hotel is a hotel property in Shanghai with an outdoor lawn used for receptions and family-oriented gatherings. The lawn sits apart from indoor function rooms and allows guests to move between open-air activities and hotel facilities. It is normally used for hotel hospitality and private events rather than public retail. The site is not verified in further detail.

How the space was used

For the Swedish National Day celebration, the lawn held Volvo's Shanghai display area, organised around a 'children's future' theme. Blue and yellow balloons and flowers marked the zone. Families moved among craft tables, puzzles and a small marked road where children drove Volvo toy cars. The setup kept activities low to the ground and dispersed across the grass rather than in a single enclosure.

Why it works here

A hotel lawn suits a family-facing brand celebration because it offers open, contained space for parallel activities and casual circulation. Guests can move between crafts, toy driving and displays without a fixed route. The setting also fits a national-day reception where indoor hospitality and outdoor programming run together.
