The HARBOOK space inside JULU758 hosted a ten-day photography exhibition of distillery imagery for The Balvenie.

JULU758 sits on a low-rise block off Julu Road in Shanghai's Jing'an district, within the former French Concession grid of plane trees, small shopfronts and converted lane housing. The complex is given over to cafes, independent retail, studios and small gallery rooms. HARBOOK space is one of its enclosed interior units: a plain, flexible room with white walls and no fixed fittings, normally used for readings, launches and small exhibitions.
For ten days in December 2023 the room held a photography exhibition for The Balvenie. Framed and mounted prints were hung along the walls, carrying images made inside the distillery and shot from an Eastern rather than Scottish vantage. The floor was left clear so visitors moved along the prints in sequence instead of gathering in front of a single wall.
The complex already draws people who come for design, coffee and small-format culture, so an image-led brand exhibition reads as one more room to step into rather than a sales floor. Its enclosed, uncluttered scale suits quiet sequential viewing and close reading of prints.
