The Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund hosted Miu Miu's 2019 Cruise fashion show in its first-floor hall.

The Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund is a historic hotel on the Bund, set in a formal building with grand interior rooms. Its first-floor hall is a large, enclosed space normally used for receptions, banquets and private hotel events. The room has a fixed architectural character: high interiors, formal detailing and a central floor that can be cleared for seated or standing gatherings.
For the show, the first-floor hall was converted into a salon. Chinese antique daybeds, canopy beds, lamps and traditional furniture were placed within the room, while modern elements were layered into the historic setting. The design, by Tu Nan, drew on Eileen Chang's descriptions of 1930s and 1940s Shanghai. The same space later held the after-party, with a DJ and guest arrivals.
A hotel salon suits a fashion show because it offers a controlled interior with a formal, domestic scale. The room can shift from seated presentation to reception and after-party without changing venue. Its historic character supports narrative staging, allowing furniture and lighting to create a film-like atmosphere while guests move through the same floor.
