Prada held an appointment-only preview and dinner for its Eternal Gold fine jewellery collection at Rong Zhai, its restored historic mansion in Shanghai.

Rong Zhai is a restored early twentieth-century residence in central Shanghai, set behind a wall and garden rather than on a retail frontage. Its sequence of rooms — reception halls, salons and smaller adjoining chambers — keeps a domestic scale throughout, with original finishes retained. The building is normally experienced as an architectural and cultural site, opened for programmed visits, small exhibitions and brand events rather than open public circulation.
For the preview, individual rooms were given over to display rather than left as open plan. Jewellery was shown in cases set within the period interiors, so guests moved room to room in small groups instead of following one route through a single hall. The evening continued with a dinner laid in a separate space, keeping the viewing and the seated part of the programme in distinct areas of the house.
High jewellery is shown at close range, not at crowd scale, and a house of separate rooms supports that. Domestic interiors also place the pieces in a lived-in context rather than a display case. The walled setting gives controlled arrival sequence and privacy, which suits an invitation-only preview.
