Porsche at Shanghai International Circuit — Sportscar Together Day 2021 (2021)

Shanghai International Circuit hosted Porsche's fourth Sportscar Together Day, pairing Carrera Cup Asia and Sports Cup China races with off-track brand zones.

The venue

Shanghai International Circuit is a permanent motorsport facility on the north-western edge of Shanghai, built around a purpose-designed racetrack with pit buildings, grandstands, a paddock and service roads. Outside race weekends it operates as a venue for manufacturer driving programmes, track days and brand events, and its large flat aprons and closed access roads allow temporary structures to be set up beside the track.

How the space was used

Across the two days the circuit's paddock and pit-side buildings were divided into an entry area, an interactive space and a brand space, with indoor rooms used alongside. Track time was shared between Carrera Cup Asia and Sports Cup China races, an esports challenge final, and a parade in which owners drove their own cars on the circuit.

Why it works here

A racetrack is one of the few venue types where a manufacturer can put customers on the same surface as its race cars. The circuit's separation of paddock, pit lane and grandstand lets static brand exhibits and racing run at the same time, while existing safety and access infrastructure supports high-speed activity.
