Shanghai Exhibition Center hosted the Shanghai chapter of Miu Miu's Tales & Tellers film and installation project over two public days in June 2026.

Shanghai Exhibition Center is a mid-20th-century exhibition complex on the west side of central Shanghai, built in a Russian neoclassical manner with a central domed hall, fluted columns, carved detailing and patterned stone floors. Its halls are normally used for trade fairs, congresses and large-format exhibitions, and the interior volumes are tall enough to hold free-standing structures well clear of the historic surfaces.
The domed hall was kept largely open, its original surfaces left exposed. Three element types were built inside: staggered matte-metal screen stands looping 31 short films, a large horn-like sound sculpture in lacquered metal, and timber-and-acrylic display tables holding archive runway pieces. Circulation was free-roaming between the elements, and performers in archive looks moved through the same paths as visitors.
The centre's domed hall, column spacing and unbroken floor give a film-and-sound installation the height and sightlines it needs while the historic shell supplies the period atmosphere the project plays against. Its central location and fair-scale floor area let a timed public programme absorb crowds without corridor bottlenecks.
