Nakanoshima Museum of Art, Osaka hosted Louis Vuitton’s Visionary Journeys exhibition, turning its galleries and atrium into a narrative of travel, craft and collaboration.

Nakanoshima Museum of Art, Osaka is an art museum in Osaka, Japan. It contains temporary exhibition galleries and a tall central atrium that connects the building’s levels. The museum is used for art exhibitions, collection displays and cultural programmes, and its gallery floors are organised as separate rooms that visitors move through in sequence. The building sits in Osaka’s central cultural district.
For the exhibition, the museum’s 2,200 m² of gallery space was divided into eleven themed rooms. The five-storey atrium held eight suspended lantern sculptures, and the central hall contained a hemisphere of 138 self-supporting trunks completed by a mirrored floor. Visitors moved through chapters on origins, the atelier and collaborations, with bamboo, tatami and washi elements integrated into the displays.
A museum provides a controlled, sequential setting for a long-form brand narrative. Its separate galleries support chapters, while the atrium allows large suspended works. The location in Osaka’s cultural district draws visitors already oriented toward exhibitions, making the venue suitable for an object-led presentation rather than a retail activation.
