HKRI Taikoo Hui's front plaza hosted The Louis, a boat-shaped Louis Vuitton concept store.

HKRI Taikoo Hui is a retail complex in Shanghai, and its front plaza is a paved outdoor area facing the street and the mall entrances. The plaza is normally used for circulation and public access, with the mall buildings behind it. Its open frontage gives passing foot traffic a direct view of structures placed there.
The plaza held a three-level boat-shaped structure containing a lower exhibition area, an upper café and an outdoor deck. Its entrance near the bow led into a trunk-lined arcade, then into themed rooms for trunks, craftsmanship, sports trophy cases, fashion, perfume, a library and a gift shop. Its top deck provided an outdoor terrace with umbrellas.
The plaza suits a temporary retail structure because it sits at the mall's street-facing edge and can be seen before visitors enter. Its open forecourt allows a large built form to be placed without interrupting indoor retail, while the mall entrance keeps the project connected to existing foot traffic.
