Fashion Valley, an open-air shopping center in San Diego, hosted a Louis Vuitton tennis-court-themed installation.

Fashion Valley is an open-air shopping center in San Diego, California, laid out as a network of retail buildings, pedestrian walkways and open plazas rather than a single enclosed atrium. It functions as a regional shopping destination, with storefronts facing exterior routes and communal areas where visitors pause between stores. Its open, street-like circulation gives brands room to stage temporary structures that can be seen and entered from the main pedestrian flow.
For the project, a section of the center was given over to an oversized tennis-court-themed installation. The set reproduced the markings and proportions of a court as a walkable brand environment, placing the sport's visual language inside the shopping route. Shoppers encountered it as a temporary landmark within the open-air circulation, rather than as a storefront display.
Open-air shopping centers suit this type of installation because their exterior walkways and plazas can absorb a large temporary set without interrupting enclosed retail floors. The court becomes part of the pedestrian route, drawing passing shoppers into a defined zone while keeping the center's everyday circulation legible.
