Espace Louis Vuitton Beijing hosts Dazzling Trilogy, a collection exhibition of glass works by Jean-Michel Othoniel.

Espace Louis Vuitton Beijing is a dedicated art space operated by the maison inside its Beijing premises, separate from the retail floor and reached through its own entrance sequence. It is a controlled indoor gallery: white or neutral walls, adjustable lighting, and a layout that can be closed off from the surrounding commercial environment. Programming runs on a seasonal calendar of exhibitions rather than daily retail use, and admission is typically free.
For this exhibition, the gallery was given over to a sequence of glass installations arranged as a walking route rather than a single open room. Visitors move between works in near-darkness, with the coloured light refracted through the glass providing the only illumination, so that each step changes the tint of the surrounding surfaces. Production was handled by La Mode En Images.
A gallery of this kind can be darkened completely and re-lit work by work, which a retail floor cannot. The space carries no merchandise pressure, so visitors are free to move slowly and look, and the maison's own collection has a controlled, domestic-scale room to be shown in.
