Plaza de Colón hosted LOEWE Perfumes' temporary sensory garden installation during Madrid Design Festival 2026.

Plaza de Colón is a public square in central Madrid, formed by open paved areas and planted edges at the junction of major city streets. It functions as a civic space for daily circulation, gatherings and outdoor events rather than as a single building. Its openness allows temporary structures to sit within the city's ordinary movement, with surrounding streets and traffic forming the everyday context.
For the project, the square hosted a temporary sensory maze by Molo Design, made from ultra-thin paper and blown glass. The semi-translucent structure occupied the public plaza, with its form changing under light, air and visitors' movement. It translated fragrance, nature and craft into a walk-through experience at civic scale, running 18–24 February 2026 during Madrid Design Festival.
A public square suits this kind of installation because it is open, central and part of everyday city movement. A freestanding pavilion can meet a non-ticketed audience without requiring a gallery interior, while the square's scale accommodates a temporary structure and connects the project to the wider festival across the city.
