Yue Art Museum in Beijing’s 798 Art Zone hosted a one-day Hermès exhibition presenting the Arceau Temps Suspendu watch through an immersive, art-directed installation.

Yue Art Museum is an exhibition venue inside Beijing’s 798 Art Zone, a gallery district formed within former industrial buildings. Its rooms are designed for contemporary art presentations rather than retail display, with flexible gallery spaces and controlled lighting. The museum sits among studios, galleries and cultural spaces, giving visitors an art-focused context before they enter the exhibition.
For the Hermès presentation, the museum’s galleries were recast as a sequence of darkened, scenographic rooms. APAX shaped lighting, installations and circulation to create a surreal atmosphere, moving visitors away from conventional watch counters. Displays of the Arceau Temps Suspendu were embedded in the constructed environment, so the watch appeared within an abstract time-themed setting rather than a commercial showcase.
The museum’s art-gallery setting supports a curatorial, installation-led watch presentation. In 798, visitors already expect exhibition-style encounters, so lighting, scenography and slow circulation read as part of the venue’s programme. A commercial mall or showroom would frame the same objects as retail merchandise instead.
