Shanghai Exhibition Center hosted Gucci Garden Archetypes, a touring exhibition that rebuilt the brand's campaign imagery as a sequence of walk-through rooms.

The Shanghai Exhibition Center is a 1950s Soviet-era exhibition complex on Yan'an Middle Road in central Jing'an, organised around a tall central hall with flanking wings, colonnades and paved courtyards. Its halls normally host trade fairs, art and design exhibitions and official ceremonies; the interior volumes are large and high enough to absorb substantial temporary construction without structural change.
For the touring show, the halls were divided into a fixed sequence of rooms, each restating a Gucci campaign through set pieces, screens, props and lighting. Visitors moved one way along the route, with thresholds, colour shifts and sound marking each transition. Free-standing walls carried the set builds, leaving the building's own architecture largely behind the new surfaces.
The complex already carries cultural weight and is known for ticketed exhibitions, so audiences arrive prepared to walk through a built environment rather than browse a shop. Its central location and large halls let a touring show install several constructed rooms at once without adapting the building itself.
