Shanghai Exhibition Center hosted the Gucci Archetypes exhibition, a multimedia installation spread across themed rooms from 28 May to 1 August 2021.

Shanghai Exhibition Center is a major exhibition venue in central Shanghai, normally used for trade fairs, expos and cultural exhibitions. Its large halls and central location make it suited to ticketed, walk-through presentations. The venue operates as a sequence of interior volumes rather than a single room, allowing exhibitions to be divided into distinct sections. Its public arrival areas support queuing, entry control and timed admission.
The venue was divided into 17 themed rooms, each built as a separate environment using screen-based media, lighting, props and constructed sets. The venue's circulation moved visitors from a control-room-style opening section into theatrical rooms devoted to campaign imagery, party scenes and nightlife. The venue also accommodated timed entry and queuing, with the exhibition laid out as a one-way route through the halls.
The venue suits this project because its exhibition halls can be partitioned into sequential rooms and support timed ticketing. Its central Shanghai location makes it accessible for a cultural exhibition, while its neutral interior allows each room to be rebuilt as a distinct environment without conflicting with permanent architecture.
