The venue

The venue is a private, closed-door event space in Shanghai; its building name and address are not verified in the source record. Its interiors are neutral and subdividable, allowing temporary walls and controlled lighting. For this project the rooms were finished in dark tones with gilded accents, and daylight was suppressed so lighting, scent and floral installations could be staged room by room.

How the space was used

The floor plan was divided into five zones: a history section tracing four generations of perfumers, a raw-materials room with Grasse floral installations and oversized bottle displays, a one-to-one consultation room, a film screening room, and a private dinner area. Guests moved sequentially through these rooms before dining, with masterclasses held in the tasting room and N°5 and Coromandel presented along the route.

Why it works here

A closed-door salon needs a venue that can be split into separate rooms and dimmed completely, so scent, sound and lighting are controlled in sequence. Neutral, subdividable interiors of this kind let a brand build a temporary set without competing architecture, and keep an invited guest list moving in small groups.
