Dongdaemun Design Plaza hosted the Seoul edition of Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams, a touring exhibition of couture, archive material and artist collaborations.

Dongdaemun Design Plaza is a cultural complex in Seoul’s Dongdaemun district, built around large exhibition galleries, event halls and a public plaza. It hosts design, fashion and art programming throughout the year. Its indoor galleries provide flexible areas for temporary exhibitions, installations and public events, with circulation linking indoor displays to the surrounding urban plaza.
The galleries were arranged as a sequence of themed rooms under Shohei Shigematsu’s scenography. Displays brought together couture garments, archive documents and works by Korean artists, with sections devoted to flowers and gardens, the atelier, balls and perfume. A Lady Dior area presented artistic interpretations of the bag, while circulation moved visitors through distinct settings rather than a single open hall.
A cultural complex with adaptable galleries suits a large touring fashion exhibition that requires controlled display areas, varied room scales and clear visitor flow. Its central Seoul location and design-focused programming draw audiences already engaged with fashion, art and scenography, matching the exhibition’s object-led, narrative format.
