Deji Plaza in Nanjing hosted a Dior pop-up boutique built around a large cake-shaped installation and celebrity appearances.

Deji Plaza is a shopping mall in Nanjing, used as a retail setting for luxury and fashion brands. The venue's interior circulation and storefronts support short-term brand presentations and high-footfall retail activity. Its central retail environment places pop-ups directly within the mall's existing shopping route, making them visible to passing shoppers and allowing the venue to shift between daily retail use and event-based brand programming.
For this project, the mall hosted a large cake-shaped installation whose exterior imitated cream, icing and fruit in pink, yellow and white. The installation enclosed the boutique entrance and display space, combining a whimsical exterior with interior displays of seasonal ready-to-wear, handbags and accessories. On the designated event day, brand ambassadors appeared on site, drawing crowds and social media attention around the pop-up.
Deji Plaza suits this activation because it concentrates luxury retail and high-end foot traffic in Nanjing. A pop-up placed inside the mall can use existing shopping circulation to reach customers while a large installation gives the venue a temporary visual anchor. Celebrity appearances fit the mall's role as a retail stage linking store visits with media and social attention.
