A historic villa on Wukang Road hosted Chanel's Coco Neige 2026 limited boutique, turning its period rooms into an alpine chalet for the ski-themed collection.

The venue

The venue is a garden villa on Wukang Road in Shanghai's former French Concession, part of a lane of early twentieth-century residences. Arched windows, timber floors and a period stucco facade survive. It is normally a residential heritage building rather than a commercial space, so any retail use has to be installed inside existing rooms and along the garden edge.

How the space was used

Inside, the rooms were sequenced into a snow-mountain narrative entry, a static display of ready-to-wear and ski equipment, an accessories area and a photography zone. Flooring carried a snow texture; timber panelling and plush installations referenced a chalet, with mannequins showing ski jackets, knitwear, earmuffs, boots and bags. The facade took pale off-white and grey tones with faux snow, timber fencing and a sled.

Why it works here

A heritage villa supplies the chalet atmosphere a mall unit cannot: real timber, arched openings and a garden setting do narrative work before any product appears. Lightweight, reversible fitting lets a fashion house stage a seasonal collection without altering protected fabric, and the address itself generates coverage.
