Nanning MixC’s B1 atrium hosted Chanel’s Chance Eau Vive fragrance pop-up, built as a mirrored, violet-toned game space.

Nanning MixC is a shopping mall in Nanning, Guangxi, arranged over multiple retail levels. Its B1 atrium is an open concourse on the mall’s lower shopping floor, used for circulation, promotions and temporary installations. The atrium is visible from surrounding shopfronts and connecting walkways, and it sits on a shared customer route, making it suitable for built environments that need to be seen from a distance.
For the project, the atrium held a built fragrance environment in pale violet and silver, entered through geometric arches. Inside, a mirrored maze and a matching game formed the route, with scent-testing counters and a hand-care area placed along the way. Reflective surfaces and lit elements enclosed the space, separating it from the surrounding retail floor. A themed keychain was given at the end.
A mall atrium works for this because it captures existing foot traffic and supports a temporary enclosed build within a shared retail route. The B1 position puts the experience directly in front of shoppers rather than in a separate destination, and the open concourse gives the maze and counters room to sit alongside surrounding stores.
