Grand Gateway 66 in Shanghai hosted Chanel's Coco Crush Hotel, a limited-time jewelry experience built as a hotel-like sequence in the mall atrium.

Grand Gateway 66 is a shopping mall in Shanghai's Xujiahui district, with a multi-level retail podium and a central atrium used for public seating, seasonal displays and brand activations. The venue sits within a dense commercial and office area, connected to transport and surrounding streets. Its atrium provides a covered, open-to-public setting with circulation across several levels.
For this project, the atrium was built as a hotel-like sequence: a check-in desk, a passage corridor, themed guest rooms and a jewelry salon. A large quilted-jewelry installation anchored the space, while modular furniture and soft lighting divided zones. Visitors moved through the sequence with a room-card format, encountering display and appreciation areas for the Coco Crush collection.
The mall atrium suits this format because it offers a controlled indoor environment with foot traffic and flexible floor space. Its central position allows a narrative sequence to be enclosed within a public retail setting, separating invited guests from passing shoppers while keeping the installation visible.
