Prince Jun's Mansion, a restored Qing princely compound in Beijing, hosted Cartier's Le Voyage Recommencé high jewellery exhibition for three days in October 2023.

Prince Jun's Mansion is a restored princely residence in Beijing: a walled compound of courtyards, halls and covered walkways set along a central axis. Grey-brick walls, painted timber beams and stone paving remain from its Qing-dynasty origin. The site now operates as a cultural and private-events venue, where rooms open onto enclosed courtyards rather than into one large open hall.
For the exhibition, the mansion's sequence of halls became the visitor route. Three archive pieces opened the visit, followed by three thematic chapters — world, nature and line — then sections for the antique collection and high jewellery watches, with gem-carving demonstrations. Guests moved from courtyard to courtyard between rooms, with the display built inside existing architecture rather than in a separate structure.
Ceremonial courtyards give jewellery a domestic scale and controlled daylight that white-box halls lack, and the segmented plan separates chapters while slowing visitor pace. The building's own age supports the heritage narrative of the archive pieces, and the central Beijing setting keeps an invitation-only exhibition away from retail traffic.
