Shankang Li, a converted lane compound in Jing'an, Shanghai, hosted a Burberry Spring/Summer 2022 pink cow-print wall installation for one evening.

Shankang Li is a low-rise lane compound in Jing'an, Shanghai, formed from converted workshop and lane-house buildings grouped around narrow pedestrian alleys. Its ground floors hold cafés, restaurants and design studios, with offices above. Blank exterior walls, courtyards and passageways between blocks serve as shared public space, so the site reads as an informal open-air street rather than an enclosed mall. The lanes stay open to passers-by through the day and evening.
For this project a single exterior wall facing one of the lanes was wrapped in a pink cow-print graphic drawn from the Spring/Summer 2022 collection. Illuminated signage and spark effects were set against the wall, and the lighting was timed to dusk so the print and the sign read together after dark. The lane in front stayed open, so the wall was encountered in passing.
Shankang Li's walls meet the lane directly, with no shopfront glazing or ticket barrier between the graphic and the street. That suits a one-evening image-led release: the work is legible from the pavement, photographs well in low light, and reaches the café and studio audience already moving through the compound.
