Bentley at Xingxingshao Reservoir — Bentley Ice and Snow Experience (2022)

Xingxingshao Reservoir in Jilin hosted a winter programme by Bentley combining ice-surface activities, folk-custom displays and evening fireworks.

The venue

Xingxingshao Reservoir is an outdoor water body in Jilin province, surrounded by a cold-winter landscape. In January its frozen surface and shoreline form a flat, open setting outside the city, with natural snow cover and broad sightlines. The reservoir is normally a water-management and landscape site; in winter it becomes a temporary outdoor venue for cold-weather activities, accessed by road and used without permanent structures.

How the space was used

During the programme, Xingxingshao Reservoir was organised as a temporary winter campus. An entrance and spatial installation framed the site, a folk-custom area introduced local winter customs, and the frozen surface held ice golf. An evening fireworks display was staged on the ice. Movement between these areas followed the reservoir's open shoreline and frozen ground, keeping the activities outdoors.

Why it works here

A frozen reservoir suits an automotive winter experience because it offers a flat, contained surface away from urban traffic, while the surrounding shoreline gives space for arrival, display and gathering. The venue's open landscape also allows ice-based activities and evening effects to be separated across the site.
